Kate MccGwire

Sluce, 2009. Pigeon feathers, felt, glue, and polystyrene.

Oh wow. It's not often that I come across an artist's work and have such an immediate, awed reaction as I did with Kate MccGwire. The beauty of her sculptures and the ways in which she uses feathers to create intricate patterns of line and color within these forms is simply stunning. Check out her website for more images of her work.

Stifle, 2009. Mixed media with dove/white pigeon feathers in antique glass dome.

Heave, 2008. Pigeon flight-feathers, felt and wood installation.

Wrest, 2009. Mixed media with pigeon feathers.

Detail of Vex, 2008. Pigeon feathers, polystyrene, felt, glue, museum cabinet.

  1. It's beautiful. But probably carries diseases.
Also applies to many men you meet.
