Richard Barnes: murmur
Remember Richard Barnes' Animal Logic series - behind-the-scenes photographs of taxidermied animals within natural history museum exhibits - that I wrote about a few months ago (check it out here)? Well, it seems that Barnes has also spent some time photographing massive swarms of European starlings, which the birds form as protection from predators, for another interesting series called Murmur. These images, which you can see here, form beautiful, undulating patterns in the sky. Like Animal Logic, I love the combination of the unreal feeling that these images provide and their strange, otherworldly beauty.
