I don't know if anyone else read Ian Frazier's piece about Dutch artist Theo Jansen's remarkable Strandbeests, which ran a few weeks ago in The New Yorker, but I was so intrigued by it that I promptly searched for footage of the Strandbeests. Kinetic sculptures that walk on the beach, powered only by the wind, Strandbeests really need to be seen in action to understand what makes them so extraordinary.
