Shawn Huckins - the paint chip series

Well wow, Shawn Huckins, aren't you an incredible painter. Like The Jealous Curator, when I first saw these works, from Shawn's The Paint Chip Series, I figured that they were scenes of everyday life done on paint chips - a pretty great idea if you ask me. When I found out they were actually large canvases painted to look like paint chips is when I kicked the impressiveness up to a whole new level.

This last image gives you some perspective as to the size of these things. As Shawn explains about the series:
The Paint Chip Series explores color choice and its meaning in our daily lives. Mimicking the exact proportions, font, layout, and hues of miniature paint cards found at a nation-wide home improvement store, bands of color we may choose for our most intimate spaces—bedrooms, kitchens, family rooms—are an ideal stage to examine the everyday people and objects that occupy our world.
