schoolhouse electric

Period lighting fixtures and blown-glass shades? Yes please! Just the mention of glassblowing is enough to get me excited, and after reading about the Portland company Schoolhouse Electric on Design*Sponge last week, I fell in love with their handcrafted designs and cool aesthetic, especially their new "artist series" collection of shades by Yellena James.

Additionally, they sell Edison light bulbs (you can see an example through the shade in the second picture), which I've always thought are so much more beautiful than modern bulbs, despite the fact that they burn much less efficiently, and so give off less light.
