It's pretty clear, even at first glace, that there's something not quite right about
Yao Lu's
New Landscapes. Their resemblance to classical Chinese paintings is just off putting enough, however, that it takes a minute to see these works for the digitally reworked photographs that they actually are. Photographing mounds of garbage covered in green protective net, Yao Lu reworks each image to create the seemingly bucolic and startlingly beautiful landscapes that you see here. See more at
