bee's wrap

Now this is what I call an ingenious use of materials. Designed as a natural alternative to plastic wrap, Bee's Wrap is a combination of fabric infused with beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin that's easy to clean and reuse. In addition to having a pretty fantastic name, Brooklyn-based skin care line Meow Meow Tweet has a whole lot to love about it. Their packaging and graphics are wonderful, and with products made from 100% natural, USDA certified organic plant oils, butters and botanicals, I can only image that they both feel and smell as amazing as they look.

DKNG Studios

I love a good gig poster, and was immediately drawn to the bold, detailed graphics of DKNG Studios. Not only do they create some really great work, including lots of other cool poster and print work, and some fantastic music packaging, but they also have the pretty cool distinction of resident poster artists at the Troubadour in Hollywood, California.

Nicola Ginzel

Nicola Ginzel's transformation of everyday objects into works of art is simply stunning. Using embroidery thread, paint and even gold leaf, these used, mundane and often discarded objects are giving new, extraordinary life. From chopstick wrappers to stamps, and even used paper cups, it's some the most beautiful example of turning trash into treasure that I've ever seen.

I saw these Grow Bottles on Cool Hunting this morning and was really impressed with not only their great, eco-friendly packaging and design, but also their incredibly simple, compact form of hydroponic gardening. These herb containers, which include certified organic seeds, are made from reclaimed, cut wine bottles that can be rinsed and replanted pretty much indefinitely, making them a great-space saving solution for indoor, year-round herb gardening. Available this spring from Potting Shed Creations.

Pretty leaf and ginko post-it notes, from Korean company APPREE. I love the beautiful packaging and different colors for these, as well as the way that the ginko notes really do look like fallen leaves in the last image.

Share the sweet is a cool concept by Norwegian designer Maria Tovslid. Wanting to emphasize the way that just changing the form of a product can completely transform the way one reads, interacts and consumes it, Maria focused these designs for candy around the concept of sharing. mast brothers chocolate

The Selby, a fantastic site that features an inside look at creative people's spaces, has a wonderful photo tour up right now of the Mast Brothers Chocolate's chocolate-making process. As New York City's only bean to bar chocolate makers, Rick and Michael Mast, the bearded brothers in the above image, are making delicious things happen in Brooklyn. I love living in a neighborhood that has such a great food scene, and Mast Brothers Chocolate is a very welcome part of that. These guys make some seriously good chocolate - just thinking about their dark chocolate with almonds and sea salt is practically making me drool. I picked out a few of my favorite images from this series to share with you today, but I definitely recommend viewing the whole set of pictures at The Selby, here.

icoeye: jacket + bookmark

Here's a great graphic design/packaging combination for books. These dust jackets, by Icoeye, incorporate a bookmark into their designs, creating a unique image that rethinks the idea of the traditional book cover. I particularly love the designs for the Robin Hood apple with arrow, Moby Dick whale with spout and Alice in Wonderland title with rabbit ears.
